Orwell's Britain

Politically correct indoctrination reaches fresh levels of asininity in the British Social Attitudes report that we are becoming more racist. The claim is based on the fact that last year the proportion claiming to be racially prejudiced jumped to 31%, the highest figure since 1994. And guess what the researchers blame for this. Yup, the media -- to be precise, its coverage of the immigration issue.

People whose brains have not already been totally fried by our Kulturkampf might care to pause here and think about this. It requires us to believe that respondents to this survey are racist because they are saying in effect: 'I hate people of foreign races because the media have told me that illegal immigration is out of control'. Huh? The idea that objections to illegal immigration must be racist is a) not true, and belittles and trivialises real racial prejudice, and b) unlikely, since anyone who really is racist is hardly likely to say so and tick the box for bigotry.

What's far more likely is that people have been so brainwashed into thinking the entire country is institutionally racist that they meekly accept that if they think hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants per year is, well, not really right, they must be racist. What they actually are is victims of a totalitarian pathology perfectly illustrated by the Social Attitudes survey report.

But wait -- there's yet more. 'The study said: "Increasing levels of education help explain why Britain has gradually become less racially prejudiced. Generally speaking, more educated people are the least likely to be racially prejudiced. Less than one in five graduates (18%) admit to being prejudiced, compared with more than a third (35%) of those with no qualifications'.

Let's all read that again, slowly. Because fewer graduates admit to being prejudiced, the researchers conclude that better educated people are less prejudiced. Didn't it occur to these alleged social scientists that better educated people might be a tad more wary about voicing their true opinions, especially if those opinions were politically incorrect?

I mean, come on, guys! How dumb can you get!

Get real Melanie: education = MONEY = Better housing and a better class of immigrant.

Wouldn't you rather have Paul of Caparo as a neighbour than live in Mossside or Toxteth ?

Maybe it is better to have your children gambol with those of Trevor Phillips at their public school than be with their Kosovan and Afghan friends at a sink comprehensive in central London ?

The poor live cheek by jowl with the interlopers.....go talk to Pakistanis and Bangladeshis about the influx of asylum-seekers impeding their children in progressing at school, in learning English and integrating.....they want to move to "better catchment areas" but "house prices are depressed" by the influx.

So long as the Polly Toynbee's of the metropolis can decant the poor immigrants onto the indigenous poor; they can indulge the cocktail receptions of Hindujas and Pauls and the various "refined" immigrant groups with money and status.

Go an talk to second and third generation unemployed youth from ethnic minorities before telling us how we need more unskilled labour importing and export jobs to India !!!

Hang on Melanie - surely better educated people can see more clearly that there is nothing to be lost from telling the truth in an anonymous poll. We all know that ignorance and fear go hand in hand - shouldn't the less well educated people therefore be lying /more/?

I'm not so sure I agree with this report, have you ever honestly listened to Africans talk about Asians and Asians about Europeans and Europeans about Salavs or anyone else?

We are all prejudiced in some way, just look at the so called graduates enmasse and look at their very close relationships and you won't see the increased social integration the report suggests.

People naturally want to protect their own, whatever that may mean, children, family, street, town.
It's the human condition and this is seen world over in attitudes towards immigrants

Here in NZ we have an Muslim illegal immigrant who used false papers to get into the country, being paid $100,000+ in legal fees to take the government to court as he has sat in jail for a year.
He has sat there because Western Intelligence agencies say he is linked to terrorism.

Whether that is true or not really shouldn't be an issue,He should rightly have been deported the very next flight back to his port of origin.

But no we have a silly bunch in power (Labour Party)who by their actions are encouraging every people mover in the world to send their charges to NZ as we are viewed as a soft touch.

This makes a mockery of our so called legal system and also the good efforts we make with UNHCR with refugees which most people agree with.
It's also a slap in the face to many New Zealanders's who are most at risk from displacement by illegals.

Even so it's the degree of prejudice in a person that marks their behaviour choices on a daily basis.

Mike, Japanese assess races by smell....the English have a particular smell, the Australians another. The White Europeans are positively open-minded compared to Chinese, Koreans or Japanese; and Arabs well......so it is typical humbug to go on like this.

Everyone can tolerate spices like pepper in small doses,
