Just wait for the cry, in the wake of the appalling carnage in Istanbul, that Britain was targeted only because we have supported America in Iraq. To which one can only draw attention, for the umpeenth time, to the fact that -- as al Qaeda itself has repeatedly said, including here -- the war it has declared is against the west, secular liberalism, Christianity and the Jews. As further evidence of this, Reuters reports that Islamic militants burned to the ground thirteen churches and several houses in a remote northern Nigerian town after a Christian student was accused of blasphemy. In addition, as this piece by Walid Phares notes, the compound in Riyadh was bombed at least in part because al Q'aeda had targeted Maronite Christians there. One of its commanders said: 'After consultation, we decided it was appropriate to attack this place and destroy it, including the people who lived there, because it housed Americans and a large majority of Christians holding Lebanese citizenship'. I'm afraid the left never will emerge from its trance, for everything is the West's fault - terrorism, poverty, tyranny. To them, the only solution is further withdrawal and accomdation. However, the sensible middle is growing increasingly tired of this old rhetoric. They're just not as shrill and don't know how to make giant puppets. Hindu Family burned alive by Muslims rampaging in Bangladesh - 11 dead. 13 Churches burned by Muslim rioters in Nigeria. The common thread here is not the US, the West, Imperialism, blah, blah, blah. It is Islamic hatred of everything not Islamic (and of itself for that matter - its more moderate end). There's a strom brewing and Britain is at the center of it with its large, restive Muslim population. I'd be embarassed to be British today, if it wasn't for the memory of those who died in Istanbul in the service of a better Britain than that on display in Trafalgar Square. At least 14 British people killed by Islamic terrorists and we're protesting against... the US President, for pity's sake. This country is, just now, a bloody disgrace. Do they think this hatred of the West, and of the Jews especially, began with the war in Iraq? It feels as though we're in the grip of some sort of a collective suicide. Wake up Britain. The answer, of course, is for Israel to be kinder to the Palestinians by allowing them to blow up more civilian buses and pizza parlors. Nov. 20, 2003 By YAAKOV KATZ AND TOVAH LAZAROFF The IBDA/C terror organization, which has claimed responsibility for the double bombings in Istanbul on Thursday and the attacks on two of the city's synagogues last Saturday, wished "Dirty Jews a peaceful Shabbat," in an announcement released following the attacks on the British Consulate and the HSBC Bank. The announcement, released on Channel Two News Thursday night, blamed the Jews for destroying Islamic society, saying they have poisoned Muslim culture with corruption and prostitution. At least 27 people were killed and 450 were wounded Thursday after suicide bombers in trucks packed with explosives blew up near the high-rise headquarters of the London-based HSBC bank and the British consulate in northern Istanbul. Last Saturday, twin car bombs exploded outside the Neveh Shalom and Beth Israel synagogues in Istanbul. 23 people, including six Jews, were killed and more than 277 were wounded. The organization threatened the life of Turkish Chief Rabbi Ishak Haleva. saying they look forward to eating Halva, customarily eaten by Muslims after one dies, following his funeral. Executive Vice President of the Turkish Jewish Community Lina Filiba had not heard of the IBDA/C threat against the chief rabbi but gasped when she heard of it from the Jerusalem Post by telephone. Filiba said she is not surprised that extremist groups like the IBDA/C are anti-Semitic, but emphasized that they do not represent the larger Turkish community. "We are not downplaying it, but on the whole the majority of the country, the wide majority of the country does not have this kind of misinterpretation. There is anti-Semitism in all societies," Filiba said. According to media reports, IBDA/C, known to be a secretive organization, aims to found an Islamic state in Turkey and has adopted a conduct of armed resistance to achieve this goal. The announcement said that Turkish intelligence was in shock following last Saturday's attacks when it realized that the terror organization was still operating and was capable of such destruction. Who cares if they don't want to become democratic? Who cares if their women are used as breeders? Don't come to the West, don't send your children to study in the West, don't emigrate. Just stay in Islamia! STAY THERE!!! Let us simply trade. After all, they cannot eat their oil. They MUST sell it or starve. But, don't sell them any modern technology—NONE! Why can we not simply cut them off? They don't want to be "corrupted" by our cultures— no problem. We don't want their violence, hypocrisy and bigotry—"East is East and West is West and never the twain shall meet," is an old saying. Why can we not leave it at that? We can watch them via spy satellites, etc. and warn, IF there is any "problem"— POOF, there goes Mecca. . . If the others won't produce children it suggests they see no point in perpetuating their genus; and evolution has determined what happens to those who do not reproduce. Certainly biology is destiny, Peter. However, given that women are one half (plus) of humanity one would hope they could breed and contribute to moving our species forward as well. Good thing it is not difficult for women to do several things at the same time—being multi-taskers and all. ;-) BTW—it is not the "inability" of the French, Germans or Italians it is the "unwillingness" to breed that is the issue. They are much more interested in the "good life" of Europe. Raising children is damned hard work and requires sacrifice. If Europe does not want immigrants then they must breed. What about cutting them, Islamic states, off? Why could that not work? Get things settled in the Holy Land and then let them muddle along in the 7th century as they wish. Lili I would not disagree, but I think it might be time to start a campaign for MUslim women to throw off their shackles, esp. in Western Europe. No more of this village politics, and no more entry visas for marriages to non-English speaking peasants brought here because they have no insight into European life. Jack Straw abolished the Primary Purpose Rule as soon as he got to be Home Sec.....and the trade in shrouded women for marriage to baseball-cap toting men is quite a sight....he trundles along in Nike and cap, and she trails him wshrouded in her black winding cloth.....quite a sight on a British street.
