Europe's revenge on the Jews

Exceedingly disturbing post on Debkafile, the investigative Jersualem-based website with apparently extensive intelligence connections. It claims that officials at the highest reaches of Nato and the EU are plotting the internationalisation and destruction of Israel. It also contains the following startling passage:

'Nineteen days before the New York article appeared, a DEBKAfile informant dining at a Knightsbridge restaurant with a highly-placed British intelligence official heard him drop this remark: “Some people in the West have come to the conclusion that the creation of the state of Israel in 1948 was a mistake.” When asked to explain whether this meant that the Jews were to be evicted from the Middle East, he replied: “Certainly. Israel has a little more than 5 million Jews. If the United States and NATO were to finance their relocation in other countries, that would solve many Middle East problems.”

This same British source is extremely well-connected in high NATO circles and has moreover established a long-running reputation for credibility. In early 1973, for instance, he asked an official of the Golda Meir government with whom he was dining in Jerusalem what Israel would do if the Arabs went to war and imposed an oil embargo. The official was taken aback by a proposition that seemed totally unrealistic at the time. Seven months later, the Yom Kippur War broke out coupled with an oil embargo.

In October 2003, the same British intelligence officer once again dropped a warning of schemes being spun in secret in Brussels to de-legitimize the Israeli democracy, whittle away its independence and eventually bring the state into eclipse'.

Is this European plot to destroy Israel true? Does this not warrant exposure in a mainstream publication? Is anyone out there listening? Does anyone care?

Fits in nicely with your Oct 26 post. Islamists perpetrate terror and Jews are held to be responsible as "the root cause". Hey, wasn't it the French Ambassador who uttered the now infamous phrease "shitty little country".

It's not that know one listens, no one wants to hear.

Disturbing, yes; surprising, NO.

As an Australian looking squarely at future threats directly to the north of my country, I'd personally be delighted if the Gov't gave a large tract of decent land (say 1.5x the size of Israel) to the Israelis, and with the assistance of other friendly nations, let them resettle here.

One proviso: They'd have to bring their superb military with them and help us when (not if) we are invaded from the north (we are of course being quietly invaded with terror cells right now).

!. I would be extremely skeptical of anything from DEBKA. They tend topublish a lot of over the top stuff.

2. If this is true, the I would tell the Honorable former Intellgence Officer of the U.K. that the Stae of Israel has 400 nuclear weapons and will not only blow up the Middle East, but in revenge create some mushroom clouds of Europe.

3. It is strange that a nation such as Britain, which has created so much pain and misery throughout the whole world dares to even open it's mouth in criticism about the Jewish State and contest its very existence. I'm sure that if it was England, which was dealing with the Palestinian terror problem they would have long ago massacred every Palestinian Arab in a scorched earth policy that would have made Sharon's pathetic policy of blowing up of a few empty buildings seem like a stroll in Hyde Park on a Spring afternoon. See the British reaction to the Sepoy Mutiny in India 1857-58, the Black & Tans in Ireland in 1920-22, the Mau-Mau repression, et al.

Happy Rama-dan-a-ding-dong!

How the British fought terror in Jenin
By Rafael Medoff - April 22, 2002. From: Jerusalem Post

"Demolishing the homes of Arab civilians... Shooting handcuffed prisoners... Forcing local Arabs to test areas where mines may have been planted..."

These sound like the sort of accusations made by British and other European officials concerning Israel's recent actions in Jenin. In fact, they are descriptions from official British documents concerning the methods used by the British authorities to combat Palestinian Arab terrorism in Jenin and elsewhere in 1938.

The documents were declassified by London in 1989. They provide details of the British Mandatory government's response to the assassination of a British district commissioner by a Palestinian Arab terrorist in Jenin in the summer of 1938.

Sorry, but DEBKAfile doesn't have any extensive intelligence connections. They just make stuff up whenever they feel like it.

Not to say they haven't been right. Hell, even the National Enquirer "scooped" all the other news outlets when they reported Liberace had AIDS (though their claim he contracted it from space aliens probably wasn't as accurate). Don't mistake the occasional accurate random guess as "extensive intelligence connections," though.

No doubt that hatred against the State of Israel and Jews in general) is deeply ingrained amongst the British chattering classes and the upper branches of the civil service, but I cannot imagine some of these incompetents planning something so monstrous as this. They probably could not even agree on lunch let alone politicide.

REALITY CHECK

"In early 1973, for instance, he asked an official of the Golda Meir government with whom he was dining..."

"In October 2003, the same British intelligence officer once again dropped a warning..."

So he was senior enough 30 years ago to be in the know, and today he is not yet retired.

Not very credible.

Paul I was thinking the same thing. Who is still "senior" 30 years later. I mean I know that government officials can't wait to retire and collect their fat pensions. Unless this British intelligcence officer was say 24 years old in 1973, this does not ring true.

This is precisely the reason why the Israeli state MUST be dismantled - it's a major threat to world peace.

As much as I am willing to believe almost anything of the sinister establishment Arabists of the FO, I fear Debka is best described as a black propaganda unit. Not a credible source in any respect.

JohnD you at what army will dismantle the Jewish State?

Posted by: Travis at October 30, 2003 02:09 PM

There is already a sensible plan proposed by Israeli Minister Rabbi Benny Elon for the relocation of the inherently itinerant Arab population of Judea and Samaria a few miles east to Jordan. Jordan already has a majority of 'Palestinians'. US aid to the nations of the area - including vast sums to Egypt - could be better spent on developing Jordan's infrastructure and industry to accomodate these people.
Unsurprisingly, the Elon Plan has not been covered by the media or discussed in the UK.
It is not so long ago that 1 million Syrians moved to Lebanon to suit their government's strategy of controlling that unfortunate land. If this many people can relocate to suit Syria, the Elon plan is certainly viable.

Regarding JohnD's statement: "This is precisely the reason why the Israeli state MUST be dismantled - it's a major threat to world peace. "

By that same logic, we should also dismantle the United States, Russia, China, France, Britain, India, Pakistan, and Iran, among others.

Peter:

"There is already a sensible plan proposed by Israeli Minister Rabbi Benny Elon for the relocation of the inherently itinerant Arab population of Judea and Samaria a few miles east to Jordan."

It's sadly ironic that Jewish nationalists, who represent a people once condemned as rootless in its many homelands and expelled on these grounds, want to inflict the same harms on others.

It just goes to show everyone, regardless of their background, can become a victimizer. The darker side of the mass enfranchisement of humanity, I suppose.
